A single band of brass bent into a closed loop and lit from inside the curve, so the light traces the shape rather than pointing anywhere. It reads as an object on the wall first and a light second.

Hardwired to an external wall switch, which is not supplied. The taller version at 29.5 in is the one that holds a stairwell wall; the 17.7 in suits a bedside or a narrow hallway run. Dimming needs a triac wall dimmer, bought separately.
